CUPERTINO — Apple revealed its next-generation flagship smartphones on Wednesday, introducing the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max as part of its annual fall hardware showcase. The devices come equipped with an upgraded A20 Pro chip built on a refined 3-nanometer process, delivering measurably faster processing and improved power efficiency compared to last year's models. The Pro series also boasts a re-engineered triple-camera array with a larger primary sensor, computational photography enhancements powered by Apple's Neural Engine, and 8K video recording at up to 60 frames per second — a first for the iPhone line.
Alongside the phones, Apple launched the AirPods 5, a new addition to its wireless earbud family positioned between the standard AirPods (second generation) and the premium AirPods Pro line. The new earbuds feature Apple's custom H3 audio chip, adaptive active noise cancellation, and a spatial audio experience that adapts to the unique shape of each user's ear canal using in-ear monitoring technology. They also support USB-C charging for the first time and promise up to 8 hours of listening time on a single charge with the case providing an additional 24 hours.
In a surprise moment during the event, Apple previewed a product it referred to simply as "iPhone Duo" — described as a dual-screen device that folds open like a book to reveal two synchronized displays. The company did not provide a release date or pricing but confirmed the project is in active development and will be announced "soon." Analysts have long speculated about Apple's entry into the foldable device market, and this tease marks the first official acknowledgment from the company about such a product.
The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 for 128GB storage, while the AirPods 5 are priced at $179. Both products begin pre-ordering on Friday and ship to customers early next month.
