Editorial Standards
TheNEWS* is a news aggregation and summarization platform. This page explains, plainly, how our content is produced and what standards we hold it to.
Sourcing
- We only summarize stories from established, named news publishers and wire-style sources - never anonymous or unverified content.
- Every article on TheNEWS* clearly names its original source and links directly to the original article.
- We do not reproduce a source's full article text. Our process works from a headline and a short excerpt, and produces an original summary in our own words.
How articles are produced
Articles on TheNEWS* are produced using AI-assisted summarization, not written by staff reporters. Given a source headline and short excerpt, our system generates a plain-language summary in English and Hindi, along with a short "Key Facts" list and "Why It Matters" context section where relevant.
Content goes through automated quality checks before publishing, including:
- Duplicate and near-duplicate detection, so the same story from multiple outlets isn't published repeatedly.
- Filtering for promotional/spam content that isn't genuine news.
- Category and state classification, so job postings, exam results, and regional news are organized correctly.
- An automated quality review pass on the AI-generated summary before it's published.
We do not currently employ a newsroom of human editors reviewing every individual article before publication - we want to be upfront about that. What we do commit to is transparency about this process, clear sourcing on every article, and prompt correction of any error brought to our attention (see our Corrections Policy).
What we do not do
- We do not fabricate quotes, statistics, or facts not present in the original source material.
- We do not attribute our AI-assisted summaries to a named human journalist who did not write them.
- We do not present a source's reporting as if it were produced independently by TheNEWS*.
