The state of Uttar Pradesh is poised to announce over 70,000 government job vacancies in 2026, marking what analysts are calling the biggest recruitment drive in the state's history. The massive wave of openings will span across three major recruiting bodies — the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC), the Uttar Pradesh Elementary Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC), and the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UPSSSC).
According to sources familiar with the matter, the UPPSC alone is expected to release notifications for several thousand posts across administrative, police, and civil services cadres. The Upper Subordinate Services Examination and combined state executive service exams are likely to be conducted in phases throughout the year.
The UPESSC, which was carved out separately to handle recruitment for primary and upper-primary school teachers, is anticipated to fill thousands of vacant teaching positions that have remained unfilled for years. Teacher shortages in rural and semi-urban areas of the state have been a persistent concern, and officials hope the new recruitment cycle will significantly reduce the gap.
Meanwhile, the UPSSSC is expected to oversee recruitment for a wide range of lower-level positions including stenographers, clerks, constables, and various technical and paramedical roles. These posts are among the most sought-after by candidates across the state's districts due to their relatively accessible eligibility criteria.
Career counsellors and coaching institutes in cities like Lucknow, Kanpur, and Varanasi have reported a surge in enrolments and inquiries from aspirants preparing for these exams. Many candidates who had been waiting for notifications delayed during previous years now view 2026 as a breakthrough opportunity.
The Uttar Pradesh government has not yet released an official calendar, but the scale of anticipated vacancies suggests a sustained recruitment effort over the coming months. Experts advise aspirants to monitor the official websites of all three commissions regularly for updates.
