The Uttar Pradesh government is set to kick off a large-scale employment drive from tomorrow, marking a significant milestone in the state's efforts to address rising unemployment. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will personally distribute appointment letters to approximately one lakh candidates who have been selected through various recruitment processes conducted by state agencies.
The employment drive, described by the state government as a 'Maha Abhiyan' or grand mission, aims to provide formal appointment letters to job seekers who have been waiting for months or even years after clearing competitive examinations and selection procedures. Officials stated that the appointments span multiple sectors including police, education, healthcare, and administrative services across the state.
The recruitment drives being covered under this initiative include selections made through the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) UP subordinate services exams, police constable recruitments, home guard placements, teacher recruitment processes, and various other departmental examinations conducted by the state government over the past two years.
Government sources indicated that candidates from all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh will be called to participate in the ceremony. The event is expected to draw large crowds of job seekers and their families, reflecting the high expectations placed on the government to deliver on employment commitments.
The state government has been under considerable pressure to address unemployment, particularly among youth, and this mass appointment distribution is seen as a concrete step toward fulfilling election promises. Earlier recruitment drives had faced delays due to legal challenges, administrative bottlenecks, and policy reviews, leaving thousands of qualified candidates in limbo.
The announcement has been widely welcomed by civil society groups and political allies of the ruling party, who have been demanding timely job confirmations for eligible candidates. Opposition parties, however, have raised questions about whether the total number of appointments reflects the actual scale of unemployment in the state and what further measures are being planned.
Officials confirmed that the appointment letters will be distributed in a phased manner, with the first major ceremony beginning tomorrow. Digital copies of the letters will also be made available through an online portal for verification purposes.
