The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UPSSSC) has officially notified an extension in the application submission deadline for candidates seeking recruitment under the UP TGT and UP PGT cycles. The move comes after thousands of aspirants raised concerns about technical glitches, lack of awareness regarding specific subject codes, and last-minute documentation issues that prevented timely submissions.
The state government, which periodically recruits teachers for government and aided schools across Uttar Pradesh, had initially set a fixed window for online applications. However, due to an unexpectedly large volume of applicants — a recurring pattern in UP's teacher recruitment drives — technical bottlenecks were reported on the UPSSSC portal in the final days of the original deadline. Several candidate groups and education activists had urged the commission to grant additional time, arguing that many eligible applicants were still in the process of completing their applications.
Under the UP TGT recruitment, candidates with a bachelor's degree and a B.Ed. qualification can apply for teaching positions in subjects such as Sanskrit, Hindi, English, Social Science, Mathematics, Science, and Physical Education across district-level schools. The UP PGT recruitment, on the other hand, targets candidates holding a master's degree along with a B.Ed., for post graduate teaching roles in high schools and upper primary schools throughout the state.
Candidates who wish to apply must visit the official UPSSSC portal and register using their email ID and mobile number. After creating an account, applicants are required to fill in personal details, educational qualifications, category, and subject preferences. A non-refundable application fee must be paid online through net banking, debit card, or credit card. Candidates belonging to reserved categories such as SC, ST, and Ex-Servicemen are eligible for fee relaxation as per government norms.
UPSSSC has reminded applicants to carefully verify all entered details before final submission, as corrections will not be permitted after the extended deadline closes. Applicants are also advised to save and print the confirmation page as proof of application. The commission has stated that the entrance examination dates will be communicated separately through an official notification on its website.
Education analysts note that teacher recruitment in Uttar Pradesh remains one of the largest state-level examinations in India, with lakhs of candidates applying for thousands of vacant teaching positions across the state's vast school system.
