The Uttar Pradesh state government has officially notified recruitment for 1,894 junior teacher vacancies across different schools in the state, sending fresh hope to thousands of education aspirants who have been waiting for an opportunity to join the teaching profession. The recruitment drive, conducted under the auspices of the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC), covers a wide range of subject specializations required at the secondary and upper primary levels.
The notification, released in early 2021, marked one of the largest teaching recruitment exercises undertaken by the state in recent years. Officials stated that the positions span across multiple districts and include subjects such as mathematics, science, social studies, English, Hindi, and physical education. The exact distribution of posts across subjects was detailed in the official recruitment advertisement published on the UPPSC website.
In a significant development, the authorities announced a revision in the last date for submitting online applications. The original deadline was extended following widespread requests from candidates who cited difficulties in completing the registration process due to technical glitches and high traffic on the portal. The revised application window was announced to give aspirants additional time to fill out their forms, upload necessary documents, and pay the application fee.
Candidates belonging to General, OBC, and EWS categories were required to pay a standard application fee, while those from SC, ST, and differently-abled categories were eligible for a concession in the fee structure. The selection process for these posts is expected to involve a written examination followed by document verification, as per the norms set by the commission.
Education experts welcomed the recruitment drive, noting that filling these vacancies would significantly reduce the burden on existing teachers and improve the quality of education in government schools across the state. With over 1.5 lakh government schools operating in Uttar Pradesh, the shortage of qualified teachers has been a persistent challenge, and this recruitment is seen as a step toward addressing that gap.
