The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UPSSSC) on Thursday announced the recruitment of 560 pharmacists for various health department positions across the state for the year 2026. The official notification, published in the commission's regular recruitment cycle, outlines the post-wise distribution, eligibility criteria, and category-wise seat allocation under the state's reservation policy.
According to the notified order, the 560 posts will be filled across multiple districts in Uttar Pradesh under the State Health Department. The selection will be conducted through a written examination followed by document verification, as per UPSSSC's standard recruitment procedure for Group C posts. Candidates who have passed Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) from a recognized institution are eligible to apply.
The commission has also released the category-wise breakdown of the vacancies, allocating seats as per the constitutional reservation framework — including appointments reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), and the General category. Female candidates will also benefit from the state government's gender-based reservation provisions where applicable.
UPSSSC has stated that the detailed advertisement, including the complete application form, exam schedule, and fee structure, will be published on the commission's official website in the coming weeks. Applicants are expected to submit their forms online through the designated portal, along with the prescribed application fee.
The pharmacy workforce plays a critical role in the state's public health delivery system, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas where pharmacists manage medicinal supply chains, dispense prescriptions, and ensure drug safety at primary health centres and district hospitals. This recruitment drive is seen as an important step toward strengthening healthcare infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh, India's most populous state.
