The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has officially opened online applications for its Provincial Civil Services (PCS) Examination 2026 cycle. The recruitment notification has been released on the commission's official website, uppsc.gov.in, inviting eligible candidates to apply for various Group B and Group C administrative posts across the state.
The PCS examination serves as one of the most prestigious state-level recruitment processes in India, selecting candidates for roles such as District Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Tehsildar, and other senior administrative positions within the Uttar Pradesh state administration. The exam is conducted in three stages — the Preliminary examination, the Main written examination, and the Personality Test (Interview).
According to the official notification, candidates must possess a bachelor's degree from a recognised university to be eligible for the exam. There is no specific stream requirement, meaning graduates from any discipline can apply. The upper age limit for general category candidates stands at 40 years, with relaxations applicable for reserved categories as per Uttar Pradesh government norms. The commission has also clarified that candidates appearing for their final year of graduation are provisionally eligible to apply.
The application process is entirely online. Aspirants need to register on the UPPSC portal using a valid email address and mobile number, fill in personal, educational, and category details, upload scanned photographs and signatures as per specifications, and pay the requisite application fee. Online payment through net banking, credit/debit card, or UPI is accepted. A printout of the submitted application should be retained for future reference.
The commission has not yet announced the detailed date sheet for the Prelims, Mains, and interview phases at this stage. However, interested candidates are encouraged to monitor the official website regularly for subsequent updates regarding admit cards, exam schedules, and result declarations.
With lakhs of aspirants appearing every year, the UPPSC PCS examination remains a highly competitive recruitment drive. The selection ratio is steep, and thorough preparation covering general studies, optional subjects, current affairs, and aptitude is considered essential for success.
