Police in Uttar Pradesh have arrested a woman, her alleged lover, and an associate for the murder of the woman's husband, whose body was discovered concealed inside a wooden trunk near a canal on September 17. A minor son of the accused woman was also taken into custody in connection with the case.
The victim has been identified as Ramkishore Valmiki. His body was found near the Bhavakheda Canal, some distance away from the family's residence. Investigators believe the killings were motivated by marital disputes, specifically the woman's anger over her husband's continued contact with his first wife.
According to police, the accused planned the murder and subsequently packed the body inside a wooden box before transporting it to the area near the canal bridge. The trunk was hidden there in an apparent attempt to destroy evidence and evade detection. Neighbours reportedly raised the alarm after the body was discovered, prompting a police investigation.
Detectives tracked down critical leads by monitoring local e-rickshaw movements and reviewing CCTV footage from the area surrounding the crime scene. This investigative work eventually led them to the accused, who were apprehended within two days of the body being found. All three adult suspects were produced before a court, where they remanded in custody as probing continues.
Police stated that corroborating physical evidence is being gathered and that the case is still developing. Authorities have not yet released the full name of the woman accused or detailed accounts of the minor's specific involvement, citing ongoing investigative protocols. Lawyers for the accused are expected to challenge the custody orders in the coming days.
