The Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Department has officially launched the application window for recruitment to 12,405 primary teacher positions across the state. The notification was released early this morning, and candidates can submit their applications through the official website starting today.
This is one of the largest teacher recruitment drives undertaken by the state in recent years, and it comes as a significant boost for thousands of aspirants who have been preparing for competitive teaching examinations. The government has specifically targeted individuals who have qualified the State-level Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UP TET) as well as the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), making this an especially relevant opportunity for eligible candidates.
The primary teacher positions cover grades I through V in government and government-aided schools throughout Uttar Pradesh. The recruitment will be carried out based on merit, with preference given to candidates holding valid TET or CTET qualification certificates. The selection process is expected to involve a written examination followed by document verification.
Eligible candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Education (B.Ed.) along with a passing score in either UP TET or CTET. Graduates with a B.El.Ed or equivalent teaching qualification are also eligible to apply. The age limit has been set in accordance with state norms, with reserved category relaxations available for SC, ST, OBC, and other categories as per Uttar Pradesh government policy.
The application process is entirely online. Candidates are required to visit the official portal, fill in personal and academic details, upload necessary documents, and pay the requisite application fee. A confirmation slip will be generated upon successful submission, which candidates must retain for future reference.
Education officials say the drive aims to address the severe shortage of qualified primary teachers in rural and semi-urban areas of the state, where many schools operate with inadequate staffing. The recruitment is expected to be completed within the current financial year, with candidates likely to be posted to schools once the merit list is finalized.
