Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) has officially released its 2026 recruitment notification inviting applications for 839 vacant positions across Diploma and Industrial Training Institute (ITI) cadre posts under state government departments. The notification was made public on the commission's official website, tnpsc.gov.in, and details the complete application process, eligibility requirements, exam schedule, and important dates.
The recruitment drive covers multiple departments within the Tamil Nadu state administration, targeting candidates who hold recognized diplomas in engineering and technology or have completed ITI trade certification from recognized institutions. TNPSC has specified that the posts will be filled at various levels depending on the qualification — Diploma holders and ITI pass-outs are eligible for Group IV and Group V categories of state service positions.
According to the notification, interested and eligible candidates must submit their applications through the online portal. The commission has opened the application window with a deadline spanning several weeks, giving applicants ample time to fill out the form, upload required documents, and pay the prescribed fee. A late fee concession has been announced for candidates belonging to reserved categories, consistent with the state's reservation policy.
Eligibility criteria stipulate that candidates must possess a diploma in relevant engineering disciplines from institutions approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) or the state technical education board, or an ITI trade certificate from NCVT or SCVT-affiliated bodies. The minimum age requirement stands at 15 years and the upper limit varies between 28 and 32 years depending on the post and category, with relaxations applicable for SC, ST, and MBC candidates as per state rules.
The selection process will involve a written examination conducted by TNPSC, followed by document verification. Detailed syllabus, exam pattern, and admit card information will be shared on the commission's website closer to the examination date.
Career counselors have noted that this recruitment drive represents one of the larger state-level hiring exercises for technical diploma and ITI graduates in recent years, offering significant employment opportunities for qualified candidates across Tamil Nadu.
