The Tamil Nadu Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) has announced a major recruitment drive for 2,331 positions of Assistant Professor in government arts and science colleges across the state. The notification was released recently, and candidates are being invited to apply through the official TRB portal at trb.tn.nic.in.
The recruitment covers multiple disciplines and departments, including subjects such as Tamil, English, History, Political Science, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Computer Science, Commerce, and other humanities and science streams. The government stated that this recruitment drive is aimed at filling long-pending vacancies that have remained unfilled due to various reasons, including administrative delays and the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on recruitment schedules.
According to the official notification, candidates must possess a postgraduate degree with a minimum of 55 percent marks or an equivalent grade from a recognized university, along with a qualifying score in the Tamil Nadu Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) or a valid eligibility certificate issued by the TRB. Candidates belonging to reserved categories enjoy a relaxation of five percent in the qualifying criteria as per government norms.
The selection process will be based on a written examination followed by a interview, conducted by the TRB in accordance with the merit-cum-fitnesstest framework. The board has emphasized that only shortlisted candidates who meet all eligibility criteria will be called for the subsequent stages of selection.
The application window is expected to remain open for several weeks, and candidates are advised to complete their registration well in advance to avoid last-minute technical glitches. The TRB has also warned that incomplete or incorrect applications will be summarily rejected, and applicants are urged to carefully read the detailed notification before applying.
