The State Bank of India has officially announced a significant recruitment drive for 996 vacant positions across different levels of its organizational structure. The bank, India's largest public sector lender, issued the notification inviting eligible candidates to apply for the roles that remain unfilled due to attrition and expanding business operations.
The salary package offered for these positions reaches up to ₹44.70 lakh per annum, depending on the scale of the post and the candidate's qualifications. Entry-level positions typically begin at much lower pay bands, while senior-scale roles command higher compensation packages that include basic pay, allowances, and various benefits unique to banking employees.
Candidates holding a graduate degree from a recognized university are eligible to apply for most of the advertised posts. The selection process is expected to involve multiple stages, including an online written examination conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection, followed by group discussions or interviews as applicable for each post level.
The recruitment drive reflects SBI's ongoing efforts to strengthen its workforce ahead of increased digital banking initiatives and expanded lending operations across rural and semi-urban areas. Industry analysts note that public sector banks have been actively recruiting to fill vacancies that accumulated during the pandemic period when hiring cycles were disrupted.
Interested candidates can submit their applications through the official SBI careers portal. The bank has stated that the application window will remain open for a specified duration, after which only shortlisted candidates will be notified for further procedures. Candidates are advised to verify the complete eligibility criteria, age limits, and reservation category requirements before applying.
