The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially released the notification for the recruitment of General Duty Constables under the Combined Government Service Examination 2021. The massive recruitment drive aims to fill thousands of constable positions across the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), including the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and the National Security Guard (NSG).

The SSC GD Constable examination remains one of the most sought-after recruitment drives in India, attracting lakhs of aspirants every year who wish to serve in the nation's security apparatus. The recruitment cycle typically involves a multi-stage selection process that begins with a written examination followed by Physical Efficiency Tests, document verification, and final medical examinations.

According to the official notification, candidates who have passed the 10th standard examination from a recognized board are eligible to apply. The age limit for general category candidates ranges between 18 and 23 years, with relaxations applicable for reserved categories as per government norms. Physical standards, including height and chest measurement requirements, vary by gender and region and are clearly specified in the notification document.

The application process is entirely online through the official SSC portal at ssc.nic.in. Candidates are required to fill out the form, upload photographs and signatures as per the prescribed specifications, pay the application fee — which is waived for female candidates and Economically Weaker Sections — and submit the form before the deadline.

The SSC has also clarified that the final list of eligible candidates will be published only after thorough verification of all documents submitted during the application process. Any discrepancy found later may lead to disqualification even after the written exam and physical tests.

Experts advise aspirants to begin their preparation well in advance, as the competitive ratio for GD Constable posts remains extremely high each year.
