The Visakhapatnam district administration recently hosted a Rozgar Mela — a large-scale employment exhibition aimed at connecting local job seekers with government and private sector opportunities — where 172 candidates formally received their appointment letters on-site.
The employment mela drew hundreds of applicants from across the city and surrounding mandals, many of whom had been waiting months for recruitment results to be finalized. The event served as both a recruitment drive and a ceremony, allowing successful candidates to collect their offer letters directly while also providing career counseling and information about upcoming vacancies.
District officials described the mela as an effort to streamline the hiring process and reduce the distance between administrative offices and unemployed youth. "We wanted candidates to receive their appointment letters in a dignified, public setting rather than through a piecemeal postal system," said a senior district planning official. The mela also featured stalls from multiple departments and organizations advertising open positions.
The 172 individuals who received letters represent a mix of appointments across various levels — including group C and D posts in municipal services, revenue department positions, and contractual roles in local government bodies. Several candidates had cleared written examinations and document verification rounds earlier this year but faced delays in final notification issuance.
