September has emerged as a landmark month for government job aspirants across India, with several recruiting bodies releasing combined notifications for over 44,000 vacant positions. The sheer scale of these drives makes it one of the most active recruitment periods in recent years.

Among the largest notifications, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) continues to process hundreds of thousands of applications for Combined Graduate Level (CGL) and Combined High Level (CHL) examinations, while the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has been chalking out recruitment plans for non-technical popular category posts, group D positions, and various technical roles across Indian Railways.

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) also has ongoing recruitment cycles for clerk and probationary officer posts across numerous public sector banks. Meanwhile, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has its own set of notifications covering civil services, engineering services, and defense services examinations.

What stands out most significantly is that more than half of the total vacancies — roughly over 22,000 positions — are open exclusively to candidates who have passed the 10th standard or equivalent from a recognized board. These roles span across positions such as railway track helpers, constables, lower division clerks, senior secondary teacher assistants, and various multi-tasking staff roles in central and state government departments.

Other major recruiters participating in this September wave include the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT), the National Career Service (NCS) portal, and several state-level public service commissions that have synchronized their examination schedules to give aspirants maximum opportunity. The Armed Forces also continue their regular intake through dedicated entry schemes.

Career counselors note that this surge in recruitment, particularly at the 10th-pass level, signals a strong push by the government to absorb a large workforce into public service roles. Experts advise candidates to carefully check eligibility criteria, age relaxations for reserved categories, and application deadlines, as missing a single notification could mean waiting another full year for a similar window.
