The Rajasthan State Service Board (RSSB) has officially notified the recruitment drive for 3,540 posts of Assistant Professors at government and government-aided colleges and universities across the state. The recruitment notification was released recently, and online applications have been opened on the RSSB's official website, rssb.rajasthan.gov.in.
The vacancies cover a wide range of subjects including arts, science, commerce, law, education, and professional disciplines. The Rajasthan government initiated this large-scale recruitment to address the long-pending shortage of qualified teaching faculty in its higher education institutions. Many colleges across the state have been functioning with vacant positions for years, affecting the quality of education delivered to students.
Candidates who wish to apply must meet the eligibility criteria prescribed by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the relevant university ordinances. Typically, applicants need to hold a master's degree with a minimum percentage as specified, along with a valid qualification in the National Eligibility Test (NET), State Eligibility Test (SET), or equivalent qualifying examination. Some categories may also consider candidates with a PhD as an alternative qualification.
The application process is entirely online. Candidates are required to visit the RSSB official website, register themselves, fill in the application form, upload the necessary documents such as photographs, signatures, certificates, and testimonials, and pay the prescribed application fee. A concern raised by employment experts is that the deadline for submission of applications needs to be carefully noted, as candidates often miss opportunities due to late applications.
After the completion of the application window, the RSSB will conduct a selection process that primarily involves a written examination or the evaluation of merit based on NET/SET scores and academic records, followed by personal interviews where applicable. The final merit list will be prepared considering the marks obtained in the examination and interview combined with reservations as per government norms.
