The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) on Thursday officially announced the recruitment notification for 22,000 positions under the Group D category, marking one of the largest mass hiring drives for the Indian Railways in recent years. The notification was released through the RRB's official portal and candidates can apply online from the date of publication.
The Group D recruitment covers a wide range of non-technical and semi-skilled positions including Track Maintainer, Helper, Assistant Signals Person, Pointman, and various other support roles that are essential for the smooth functioning of railway operations across the country. These posts fall under Level 1 of the 7th Central Pay Commission pay matrix, which provides a starting basic salary of Rs 18,000 per month along with applicable allowances.
According to the eligibility criteria notified by the RRB, candidates must have passed at least the 10th standard examination from a recognized board or possess an ITI certification in a relevant trade to be considered for these positions. There is no upper age limit restriction beyond what is specified under the general government service norms, with relaxations available for candidates belonging to reserved categories as per existing government guidelines.
The selection process will involve multiple stages, beginning with a Computer Based Test (CBT) followed by document verification and medical examination. Candidates who clear the CBT will also be required to appear for a physical efficiency test where applicable, depending on the nature of the post they have applied for.
The RRB has emphasized that the entire recruitment process will be conducted in a transparent manner through its online system, and candidates are urged to fill in all details carefully while submitting their applications. Any incorrect information may lead to disqualification at any stage of the selection process.
Regional railway recruitment boards such as RRB Patna, RRB Allahabad, RRB Mumbai, and other zonal boards will handle the examination and selection process for candidates applying against the vacancies allocated to their respective zones. The final merit list will be prepared based on the performance of candidates in the CBT and category-wise filling of vacancies will be done as per reservation policy.
