A disturbing incident has erupted in Pune, Maharashtra, where an online content creator has reportedly been physically assaulted and publicly humiliated by workers of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) for allegedly posting a social media reel critical of party chief Raj Thackeray.
The video, which began circulating on social media on Monday, shows the influencer, identified as Mahesh Mate, with his face covered in black ink, sitting with folded hands and appearing to beg for unconditional forgiveness from Raj Thackeray, the MNS, and its party functionaries. In the footage, he can be seen visibly emotional and crying, promising never to repeat such an act or cause trouble for the party again.
According to local reports, MNS workers allegedly dragged Mate and forcibly applied black ink to his face — a symbolic gesture meant to disgrace and shame him. He was then made to prostrate himself in front of a photograph of Raj Thackeray, while a slipper was placed on his head, a demeaning act that carries deep cultural significance as a form of public humiliation in India. He was also reportedly forced to walk around in this state as others filmed the episode.
