In a significant move aimed at absorbing fresh talent into the state administration, the Government of Odisha has floated a massive recruitment notification featuring 23,757 vacant positions across various departments and subordinate services. The notification opens doors for candidates who have completed their 10th standard education, marking one of the largest employment drives in recent years for school-level qualified aspirants in the state.
The recruitment span covers multiple sectors including district administration, rural development, health and family welfare, education, public works, and various other state government departments. Sources indicate that many of the positions fall under the category of Group C and Group D services, which traditionally serve as entry points for candidates with foundational educational qualifications. These roles include positions such as clerical assistants, data entry operators, peons, attendants, sanitary inspectors, and other supporting staff roles that are essential to the functioning of government offices across Odisha.
TheOdisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) and various department-specific recruiting authorities are expected to conduct the selection process through written examinations, skill tests, and document verification rounds. For many positions under this drive, candidates between the ages of 18 and 40 years are generally considered eligible, though exact age criteria may vary by post and category.
This recruitment wave comes at a time when unemployment among educated youth remains a pressing concern in Odisha, a state with a population exceeding 46 million. Job seekers from rural and semi-urban areas, in particular, view the 10th-pass eligibility criterion as a crucial opportunity, since many such candidates historically struggle to find government employment avenues that do not require higher secondary or graduation qualifications.
Career counsellors and employment experts note that while such large-scale recruitments provide immediate relief, they also reflect the structural challenge India faces in matching the pace of job creation with the growing number of annual entrants into the workforce. The Odisha government has previously launched similar drives, including the Odisha Combined Entrance Examination (ODEE) and direct recruitment campaigns under the State Services Commission framework.
Applications are expected to be accepted online through the official Odisha government recruitment portal. Candidates are advised to verify the detailed notification, which includes subject-wise vacancy distribution, reservation details, application fees, and examination schedules, before submitting their forms.
