The Madhya Pradesh Employee Selection Board (MPESB) has announced an extension in the last date for applying online to the much-awaited recruitment drive for Forest Guard and Jail Prahari posts. The board has now moved the final date for submission of applications from its original deadline to 30 April 2026. A total of 1,679 vacancies are being filled through this recruitment cycle across the state.
The Madhya Pradesh Forest Department and the Prisons Department have jointly advertised these positions, with candidates eligible to apply for one or both categories depending on their qualifications. The recruitment notification had previously generated significant interest among youth in the state, especially those residing in rural and tribal areas where forest and prison department jobs carry considerable appeal due to job security and government benefits.
Under the revised schedule, aspirants who may have missed the earlier deadline now have additional days to complete their applications on the official MPESB portal. Candidates are advised to ensure that all mandatory documents — including educational certificates, caste certificates where applicable, domicile proof, and photographs — are uploaded in the prescribed format before final submission.
The selection process for these posts typically involves a written examination followed by physical efficiency tests and document verification. Forest Guard candidates are generally required to clear physical endurance standards such as running and long jump, while Jail Prahari selections follow a similar pattern adjusted to the requirements of the corrections department.
MPESB has not yet released the updated admit card schedule or exam dates corresponding to the revised application timeline. Candidates are urged to regularly visit the official MPESB website for further notifications regarding examination schedules, city allotments, and any additional instructions related to the extended window.
Recruitment drives forForest Guard and Jail Prahari positions have historically been among the most sought-after government employment opportunities in Madhya Pradesh, attracting tens of thousands of applicants each year. With over sixteen hundred posts now open, the current cycle is expected to see a record number of applications.
