The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) issued its daily calls-for-service summary on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, detailing a range of criminal incidents reported the previous day across the Maryland suburbs of Gaithersburg and Potomac.
Among the most serious were two residential burglaries. The first occurred along Kentland Farms Drive in Gaithersburg between approximately 5:55 AM and 12:40 PM on September 8. The second took place on Brandywine Forest Way, also in Gaithersburg, with the underlying offense occurring sometime between early morning hours and 1:55 PM that same day. In both cases, investigators have not yet disclosed whether any items were taken or whether suspects were identified.
Motor vehicle thefts dominated the remainder of the log. Three separate incidents were recorded: one in Potomac along Macarthur Boulevard between 6:30 PM and 7:05 PM, another on Woodfield Road in Gaithersburg during the overnight hours between 12:15 AM and 8:15 AM, and a third near the 200 block of West Road in Gaithersburg between 2:30 PM and 4:35 PM. All three remain under active investigation.
Also flagged was a hate or bias incident reported in Gaithersburg on September 7 around 8 PM, though MCPD provided limited additional detail at the time of publication.
Property damage was also reported at a local school, where graffiti was discovered on September 8. No further specifics about the location or nature of the damage were released.
MCPD continues to urge residents to secure vehicles, report suspicious activity, and contact the department's non-emergency line or 911 in cases of ongoing concern.
