The Government of Maharashtra has released the much-awaited merit list for the Community Health Officer (CHO) recruitment drive conducted under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) for the year 2019. The results have been published on a district-wise basis, allowing candidates to easily locate their position in the selection order.
The announcement came after weeks of anticipation among thousands of applicants who had appeared for the competitive examination aimed at filling numerous CHO positions across various districts of the state. Under the NRHM framework, Community Health Officers play a pivotal role in delivering healthcare services at the grassroots level, particularly in rural and underserved areas where medical infrastructure remains stretched thin.
Candidates can verify their results by visiting the official health department website at arogya.maharashtra.gov.in. The portal displays a comprehensive district-wise merit list, including details such as candidate roll numbers, obtained marks, and overall ranking. Applicants are advised to cross-check all personal details carefully to ensure there are no discrepancies before proceeding further.
The CHO recruitment was undertaken as part of the central government's broader initiative to strengthen primary healthcare delivery in rural India. Under the scheme, CHO holders are entrusted with managing community health centres, supervising auxiliary nursing midwives and accredited social health activists, and ensuring the smooth implementation of various public health programmes in their assigned regions.
Health officials stated that the final merit list has been prepared considering the written examination scores, reserved category criteria, and district-wise vacancy distribution. Selected candidates will be appointed based on their rank and the availability of vacant positions in their respective districts. The appointment process is expected to begin shortly once all formalities are completed, with candidates receiving their posting allocations in due course.
