The Maharashtra Police Department has officially opened its long-awaited recruitment process for 1,847 vacant positions spread across multiple cadres and roles within the state police force. The notification was released following years of accumulated backend vacancies that have strained already overburdened districts across Maharashtra.
The recruitment encompasses a range of positions, with Constable being the largest category followed by Sub-Inspector and other supporting roles. Candidates holding a valid graduation degree from a recognized university are eligible to apply for Sub-Inspector posts, while those who have passed the 12th standard or equivalent examination from a recognized board can apply for Constable-level positions.
Age relaxations applicable as per government norms have been extended to candidates belonging to reserved categories, including Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, and physically challenged applicants. The upper age limit for general category candidates applying for constable posts stands at 22 years, with progressive relaxations for reserved categories extending up to 27 years in certain cases.
Applicants must also meet the prescribed physical measurement standards, including minimum height and chest circumference requirements for male candidates, and height standards for female candidates, as specified in the detailed notification released alongside the recruitment advertisement.
The selection process will unfold in multiple stages, beginning with a written examination conducted by the Maharashtra Public Service Commission or the state-level recruitment board depending on the post. Candidates who clear the preliminary written test will then be called for physical efficiency tests, document verification, and final medical examinations before being included in the merit list.
The application portal is expected to remain open for approximately four to six weeks from the date of notification. The Maharashtra Police has emphasized that applicants should complete their forms before the deadline, as no extensions are anticipated. Detailed information regarding fee structure, exam dates, and the complete syllabus has been published on the official recruitment website.
