Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRCL) has officially announced the recruitment of 134 apprentices under its 2023 intake cycle, opening doors for young engineering and diploma graduates seeking hands-on experience in the rapidly expanding metro infrastructure sector across the state.
According to the detailed notification, the vacant positions span multiple disciplines including electrical, mechanical, civil, electronics and telecommunications engineering. The recruits will undergo structured on-the-job training at metro depots, maintenance facilities, and operational sites across Mumbai's metro network, which continues to grow with the opening of new corridors in recent years.
Applicants holding a BE or B.Tech degree in relevant engineering branches or a Diploma in Engineering from a recognized institution are eligible to apply. Final-year students who have completed most of their coursework may also apply, provided they can produce proof of passing within the stipulated timeframe after selection.
The selection process is expected to include a written aptitude test followed by a personal interview. Candidates who qualify will be offered a six-month apprentice tenure, during which they will receive a monthly stipend as per government norms. Successful candidates may also receive a certificate of apprenticeship recognized by the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme.
Candidates must register on the official MMRCL recruitment portal and upload mandatory documents such as mark sheets, degree certificates, category certificates, and photographs before the deadline. There is no application fee mentioned for general category candidates, though reserved category applicants should verify the latest notification for any applicable charges.
This recruitment drive comes at a time when Maharashtra is aggressively expanding its public transit infrastructure. Mumbai alone operates several operational metro lines, with more corridors under construction. The apprenticeship program is seen as a pipeline to build a skilled workforce that can support ongoing and future metro operations across the state.
