The National Health Mission (NHM) Maharashtra has announced a major recruitment drive for the year 2019, aiming to fill numerous vacant positions across its healthcare infrastructure. The recruitment notification was issued by the directorate of health services under the Maharashtra state government, with applications invited for roles such as Medical Officer, Staff Nurse, Pharmacist, Laboratory Technician, and other supporting staff positions.
According to the official advertisement, the recruitment will be carried out across all districts of Maharashtra. Candidates who have completed their MBBS degree and hold registration with the Maharashtra Medical Council will be eligible for the Medical Officer posts. For nursing positions, candidates must possess a recognized nursing qualification along with valid registration with the Maharashtra Nursing Council. Pharmacist vacancies require a Diploma in Pharmacy or Bachelor of Pharmacy degree registered with the State Pharmacy Council. Laboratory Technicians must have an appropriate diploma or degree in medical laboratory technology from a recognized institution.
The selection process is expected to involve a combination of document verification and written examination, depending on the nature of the post. Shortlisted candidates will be placed in government hospitals and primary health centers throughout the state, where there has been a persistent shortage of trained medical professionals over recent years.
Health department officials stated that filling these vacancies is a key priority, as several districts in Maharashtra have been operating below the required staffing norms. The rural and tribal areas have been particularly affected by staff shortages, leading to reduced access to basic healthcare services for vulnerable populations.
