Maharashtra State Electricity Generation Company Limited (MAHAGENCO) has officially announced a major recruitment drive for 800 vacant technician-level posts across its various thermal and power generation units spread throughout the state. The recruitment notification has been widely welcomed by young job seekers in Maharashtra who hold relevant technical qualifications.
The announcement came through MAHAGENCO's official website and was also published in leading Marathi and English newspapers as a walk-in advertisement. The company, which is under the administrative control of the Maharashtra government's energy department, stated that the recruitments are being made to fill critical vacancies that have accumulated over recent years due to retirements and expanded operational requirements at its power plants.
Eligibility for the posts requires candidates to possess either anITI certificate in relevant trades or a diploma in engineering from a recognized institution. The specific trade requirements vary depending on the post — including electrician, fitter, machinist, welder, heat operator, and other technical trades essential for power plant operations. Candidates must have passed the respective trade examination from a board or institution recognized by the state or central government.
The upper age limit for general category candidates has been set at 37 years, with standard relaxation provisions applicable for reserved categories as per Maharashtra government norms. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, and economically weaker sections will receive the prescribed age and fee concessions.
The selection process is expected to involve a combination of document verification and trade practical tests conducted at designated centers across Maharashtra. Successful candidates will be appointed at Level 3 of the Maharashtra government pay matrix, which translates to a monthly salary ranging approximately between Rs 19,900 and Rs 63,200, along with standard government benefits including medical allowances and pension contributions under the National Pension System.
