The Madhya Pradesh Police has officially released its much-awaited recruitment notification for the post of Constable for the year 2026, announcing a total of 7,500 vacancies. This large-scale hiring initiative is expected to provide thousands of employment opportunities across the state and is one of the biggest police recruitment drives announced in recent years.
According to the notification, candidates can apply online starting September 22 through the official website of the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board, which is responsible for conducting the selection process on behalf of the state police department. The recruitment process will include a written examination, physical efficiency test, document verification, and a medical fitness assessment.
Eligibility criteria for the Constable post require candidates to have passed at least 12th standard or an equivalent examination from a recognized board. The upper age limit for general category candidates stands at 27 years, while reserved category applicants enjoy relaxation as per state government norms. Candidates must also meet minimum physical standards, including height and chest measurement requirements specified in the notification.
The application fee has been structured in accordance with government guidelines, with general category candidates required to pay a higher fee compared to reserved category applicants. Late fee provisions will also be available for a limited period after the official closing date.
Recruitment experts note that this drive is significant because it will substantially reduce the existing deficit in constable strength across various districts of Madhya Pradesh. The state government has emphasized that trained constables play a crucial role in maintaining law and order, community policing, and ensuring public safety. Over the past few years, several districts have faced understaffing due to vacancies not being filled promptly, and this recruitment is seen as a step toward addressing that gap.
