The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has officially launched a multi-axle bus service on the Bengaluru-Ballari route, marking a significant upgrade in long-distance road connectivity across the state.
The newly introduced multi-axle coaches operate on the approximately 390-kilometer corridor linking Bengaluru, the state capital, with Ballari (formerly Bellary), a major city in northern Karnataka known for its iron ore mining industry and rich historical heritage including the UNESCO-listed Hampi ruins nearby.
KSRTC officials confirmed that the multi-axle buses feature wider seating arrangements, improved suspension systems, and greater passenger capacity compared to standard coaches on the same route. The service aims to provide a smoother and more comfortable travel experience for commuters and tourists alike.
The introduction of multi-axle services comes as part of KSRTC's broader fleet modernization initiative, which has seen the corporation progressively replace older single-axle buses with advanced multi-axle coaches across several key interstate and intra-state routes in recent years.
