The Karnataka Women and Child Development (WCD) Department has officially notified the recruitment of 223 Anganwadi Workers and Helpers across the state. The vacancy announcement, made through the state’s dedicated portal, marks one of the most significant hiring drives under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme in recent years.
According to the notification, the positions are spread across various districts in Karnataka, with candidates required to apply through the official online application portal. The last date to submit applications was fixed at 30 June 2021, after which no further applications will be accepted. Candidates are urged to complete their submissions well ahead of the deadline to avoid technical glitches often seen on the final day.
Anganwadi Workers play a critical role in delivering essential nutritional and healthcare services to children under six years of age, pregnant and lactating women, and adolescent girls under the ICDS framework. These workers are stationed at Anganwadi centres — community-based childcare centres that serve as the first point of contact for maternal and child welfare services across rural and urban India. Helpers assist the workers in daily operations, including meal preparation, health check-ups, and maintaining centre records.
Eligibility criteria typically require candidates to have passed at least the 10th standard or an equivalent examination from a recognised board. Age relaxations are applicable for candidates belonging to reserved categories as per Karnataka government norms. The selection process is expected to be based on merit, determined through a written examination or a direct merit list prepared from application scores, depending on the department’s final guidelines.
