The Karnataka State Police Department has initiated a major recruitment drive to fill 662 vacancies under the Jailor and Warder categories across various prisons and correctional facilities in the state. The notification was issued to address longstanding staffing shortages in the prison administration system, which has been operating with depleted manpower in recent years.
Candidates possessing a bachelor's degree from a recognized university are eligible to apply for the Jailor position, while the Warder post requires completion of higher secondary education or an equivalent qualification from a recognized board. The recruitment process will involve a written examination followed by a physical efficiency test and medical screening for shortlisted candidates.
The upper age limit for general category candidates stands at 32 years, with appropriate relaxations available for reserved categories as per government norms. Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates receive five years of age relaxation, Other Backward Classes get three years, and physically handicapped applicants are eligible for additional concessions. The lower age limit remains at 18 years for all candidates.
The selection process will comprise a merit-based written test conducted by the Karnataka Public Service Commission or the department itself, depending on the specific recruitment rules. Candidates who clear the written examination will be called for physical endurance tests designed to assess their fitness for duty in prison and correctional facility environments.
The application window opened shortly after the official notification was released, and candidates were required to submit their applications through the designated online portal. Important documents such as educational certificates, caste certificates, and identity proofs must be uploaded during the application process. The final merit list will be prepared based on combined performance in the written exam and physical tests.
