The Karnataka state government has launched a major recruitment initiative, announcing more than 1,750 vacant positions across a wide range of departments and agencies. The notification, issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, opens the application window for job seekers holding educational qualifications from secondary school certification up to postgraduate degrees.
The recruitment drive encompasses multiple categories of posts, including Group C and Group D positions under the state civil services, constable and sub-inspector roles in the Karnataka State Police, teaching vacancies in government schools and pre-university colleges, and medical officer positions in rural and urban health centres. Several village-level administrative posts, such as gram Sachiv and taluk-level clerical positions, are also included in the notification.
According to officials, the state government initiated this large-scale hiring as part of its effort to fill long-pending vacancies that have accumulated over the past three years due to pandemic-related delays and administrative restructuring. Many departments had frozen recruitment during 2020 and 2021, leading to severe staffing shortages, particularly in the education and healthcare sectors.
Candidates who have passed the 10th standard can apply for lower-group positions such as assistant cum clerk, peon, and data entry operator. Graduates in any discipline are eligible for clerical, supervisory, and junior assistant roles across various departments. Postgraduate candidates and those with professional qualifications such as law, engineering, and medicine can apply for specialised positions including lecturer, senior superintendent, and medical officer roles.
The application process is being conducted entirely online through the official Karnataka Recruitment portal at karnataka.gov.in/recruitment. Candidates are required to upload scanned copies of their educational certificates, identity proof, category certificate if applicable, and recent photographs. The last date for submission of online applications has been set for the coming weeks, with the exact deadline to be confirmed in a subsequent advisory.
A processing fee of ₹500 is being charged for general category candidates, while SC, ST, EWS, and physically challenged applicants are exempt from payment. Female candidates and ex-servicemen are also eligible for fee concession as per existing government guidelines.
The selection process will involve a combination of written examinations, skill tests, and document verification, depending on the nature of the post. Results are expected within four to six months of the closing date for applications.
Education and employment experts have welcomed the announcement, noting that it provides a significant opportunity for unemployed youth in the state, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas where government employment remains one of the most sought-after career options.
