The Department of Posts, operating under the Ministry of Communications, has released a fresh recruitment notification for 231 permanent positions across multiple roles within the India Post network. The vacancies span positions such as Mail Sorter, Postman, Multipurpose Employee (MPE), and Postal Assistant, making this one of the most accessible government recruitment drives for candidates with a 12th-grade education.
According to the official notification, the minimum educational qualification required for most of these posts is the completion of Class 12 from a recognized board or equivalent examination. A few roles may also accept candidates with a Diploma in relevant fields. Age relaxation is available for reserved category candidates as per government norms.
The salary structure for these positions falls under Pay Level 3 and Pay Level 4 of the 7th Central Pay Commission, with a monthly pay ranging between Rs 18,000 and Rs 69,000, depending on the specific role and seniority. Selected candidates will also be eligible for Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, and other government benefits applicable to postal department employees.
The selection process will primarily be based on a written examination followed by document verification. Candidates who clear the merit list will be called for final selection. The application window is expected to remain open for approximately four to six weeks from the date of notification release. Aspirants are advised to apply only through the official India Post careers portal and to avoid third-party websites charging fees for application assistance.
This recruitment drive comes at a time when India Post continues to expand its digital and logistics services under the broader postal modernization initiative. With increasing demand for efficient last-mile delivery and government scheme disbursements through postal infrastructure, the department has been regularly filling vacancies to strengthen its workforce across states.
