India stated that a Pakistani naval ship deliberately closed in on an Indian vessel, raising the risk of a serious maritime incident. According to officials familiar with the matter, the Indian side reported that the Pakistani craft made a rapid approach toward their vessel without signalling or maintaining safe distances, leaving its crew with little time to react.
The collision occurred in waters near the maritime boundary that separates Indian and Pakistani-controlled areas, though exact coordinates have not been publicly disclosed. Both navies have deployed significant assets in the region over recent years, and incidents along the line of contact at sea are uncommon but not entirely without precedent.
In New Delhi, the Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement expressing strong concern over what it described as "reckless manoeuvring" by Pakistani forces.
