The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Service Selection Board (GSSSB) has announced an extension of the last date for online applications for the recruitment of 2,367 supervisor-instructor positions across government secondary and higher secondary schools in Gujarat. The decision to extend the deadline comes after numerous candidates reported technical difficulties and sought more time to complete their applications.
Supervisor-instructors play a vital role in the state's education system, managing laboratories, library services, computer centers, and practical training components in government-run schools. These positions fall under the broader category of non-teaching and support staff recruited by GSSSB for the Gujarat education department.
The recruitment notification had initially been released earlier, outlining eligibility criteria that generally require candidates to hold a bachelor's degree along with relevant professional qualifications depending on the specific post applied for — such as a diploma or degree in science, commerce, arts, or vocational subjects. Candidates must also satisfy age limits prescribed by the state government rules, with relaxations applicable for reserved categories including Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes.
Earlier this year, GSSSB had floated multiple notifications for various teaching and non-teaching posts as part of its drive to fill longstanding vacancies in the state's school system. The supervisor-instructor recruitment is considered one of the most significant drives, given the sheer number of vacancies and the direct impact these roles have on classroom infrastructure and student learning outcomes.
Candidates are advised to apply through the official GSSSB website and ensure they upload all required documents before the revised deadline. Applicants should double-check their submitted forms for accuracy, as corrections may not be permitted after submission. The board has also reminded candidates to keep their registration details secure for future reference during the selection process.
