The Gujarat Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment examination for 2026 was conducted across the state today, marking a crucial milestone in one of the most highly anticipated police recruitment drives in Gujarat. The exam was held in two shifts — morning and evening — at hundreds of examination centers spread across all districts of the state.
According to officials from the Gujarat Police recruitment board, approximately 3.5 lakh candidates appeared for the written test, which was conducted in a computer-based format. The exam tested candidates across four key sections: General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Reasoning Ability, Mathematics, and Gujarati Language comprehension.
Candidates were required to report at the examination centers at least 45 minutes before the scheduled start time of their respective shifts. The morning shift began at 9:00 AM while the evening shift commenced at 3:00 PM. Security personnel and staff were deployed at all centers to ensure smooth and fair conduct of the examination.
Admit card holders were instructed to bring a printed copy of their admit card along with a valid photo identity proof. Electronic devices such as mobile phones, smartwatches, and calculators were strictly prohibited inside the examination halls. Those found in possession of banned items were turned away from the venue without being allowed to take the test.
This recruitment drive aims to fill approximately 800 Sub-Inspector posts across various departments of the Gujarat Police force. Candidates who qualify in the written exam will proceed to the subsequent stages, which include physical efficiency tests, document verification, and medical examinations, before final selection.
Candidates can expect the answer key to be released within the coming days, followed by the declaration of merit lists based on their performance in the written examination.
