The Arogyasathi programme, meaning "health companion" in Gujarati, was introduced as part of Gujarat's broader effort to strengthen primary healthcare delivery in rural and semi-urban areas. The initiative aims to bridge the gap in healthcare workforce availability by deploying trained para-medical and support staff at sub-centres, primary health centres, and community health posts.
Eligibility criteria vary by position. DEO roles typically require candidates to have passed higher secondary or equivalent examinations with basic computer proficiency. Para-Medical Worker positions generally demand a diploma or certificate in a relevant medical field from a recognised institution. Age relaxation is available for candidates belonging to reserved categories as per government norms.
Applications are being accepted entirely through an online portal managed by the Gujarat Public Service Commission or the relevant state health department hiring body. Aspirants are required to upload scanned copies of educational certificates, identity proofs, caste certificates where applicable, and recent photographs during the application process.
The recruitment notification also outlines a selection process that typically includes document verification followed by skill-based assessments or written examinations depending on the post. Selected candidates will be posted at various health facilities across Gujarat's districts.
