The Government of Gujarat has officially notified the recruitment drive for the Junior Medical Cadre (JMC) 2024, announcing a total of 144 vacancies across various departments under the state health services. Candidates are being invited to submit their applications online through the official Gujarat government recruitment portal, ojas.gujarat.gov.in.
The recruitment notification was released by the Gujarat Public Service Commission in coordination with the State Health Department to fill up positions that have remained vacant due to retirements, resignations, and expanded healthcare needs across rural and urban districts of the state. The JMC cadre plays a critical role in delivering primary healthcare services, especially in underserved areas where medical infrastructure remains limited.
While detailed vacancy-wise distribution across different districts and specialties has not been fully disclosed at the time of publication, officials have indicated that most of the positions will be dedicated to general duty medical officers and community health roles. Priority has been given to filling posts in tribal and remote regions where healthcare access is a persistent challenge.
Eligibility criteria require candidates to hold an MBBS degree recognized by the National Medical Commission and a valid registration with the Gujarat Medical Council or any equivalent state medical council. Age limits as per standard government norms apply, with relaxations available for reserved categories including SC, ST, OBC, and physically challenged candidates.
The application window is expected to remain open for approximately two weeks from the date of the notification release. Interested candidates are advised to keep their scanned photographs, signatures, educational certificates, category certificates, and experience documents ready before filling out the online form. A nominal application fee applies for general category candidates, while reserved categories may be exempted entirely.
Shortlisting for written examinations or skill-based assessments will be conducted by the concerned department in line with Gujarat government recruitment guidelines. The selection process is expected to include a merit-based ranking followed by document verification and final appointment scheduling.
