The Gujarat state government has officially declared the merit list for the recruitment of Anganwadi workers and helpers under the 2025 hiring cycle. The selection process covers more than 9,000 vacancies across the state, making it one of the largest recruitment drives organized by the Women and Child Development Department in recent years.
The merit list has been published on the official e-HRMS Gujarat portal at e-hrms.gujarat.gov.in. Candidates who appeared for the written examination conducted earlier this year can now check their names along with their assigned category and district posting preferences on the website. The list reflects final rankings prepared after applying all applicable reservation percentages for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Economically Weaker Sections, and other eligible categories as per Gujarat government norms.
Anganwadi workers form the backbone of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme in Gujarat, which is one of the largest child welfare programs in the world. Their responsibilities include providing supplementary nutrition, conducting health check-ups, immunization support, and early childhood care education at grassroots anganwadi centers across both rural and urban areas of the state. Helpers assist workers in daily operational tasks at these centers.
The recruitment drive was initiated to fill vacancies that had remained unfilled due to retirements, resignations, and the creation of new positions. Previous cycles of Anganwadi recruitment in Gujarat have faced delays and legal challenges, but officials say the 2025 selection process has followed a streamlined procedure with transparent score publication and grievance redressal mechanisms. Candidates who wish to challenge their ranking or category placement can file objections through the designated portal within the stipulated time frame.
Once the merit list is finalized and any objections are resolved, appointment letters are expected to be issued in phases. Newly selected workers will undergo orientation and training before being assigned to their respective anganwadi centers across different districts of Gujarat.
All candidates are advised to regularly visit the e-HRMS Gujarat website for further updates regarding document verification schedules, training dates, and final appointment announcements.
