Students across India who have completed their 12th standard from any recognized board are set to benefit from a significant wave of government recruitment drives expected to roll out through 2025 and 2026. Education consultancy platform Physics Wallah (PW) has compiled a list of over 15 upcoming government job vacancies that do not require a graduation degree, making them accessible to thousands of young aspirants every year.
Among the most prominent opportunities are recruitment drives for the National Defence Academy (NDA), which conducts entrance exams twice a year for candidates who have passed class 12. The Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force regularly fill positions through this pathway, offering careers in defence along with salary packages that start at approximately Rs 56,100 per month for cadets.
Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) notifications for Group D and Level 1 posts such as Track Cum Maintainer, Helper, and Apprentice are also expected in large numbers. These positions typically require a 10th or 12th pass qualification and offer salaries ranging between Rs 18,000 and Rs 25,000 per month, making them among the most sought-after government jobs for school leavers.
Banking sector recruitment through the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) and State Bank of India (SBI) is another major avenue. While many banking roles require a graduate degree, several clerical and junior associate positions accept 12th pass candidates, particularly in rural and semi-urban banking operations.
Other notable opportunities include postal department recruitment through India Post GDS (Gramin Dak Sevak), where candidates can apply after 12th grade. The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) also announces multiple examinations throughout the year — including the SSC Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) exam and the SSC Junior Engineer exam — both of which are open to 12th pass aspirants.
State-level public service commissions in states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra frequently release notifications for police constable, fireman, peon, and clerk positions that accept 12th pass candidates. Additionally, the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), including BSF, CRPF, and ITBP, conduct annual recruitment drives for constable-level positions open to 12th pass youth.
Career experts advise aspirants to monitor official portals such as ssc.gov.in, rrb.gov.in, indianarmy.nic.in, and ibps.in for real-time updates, as application windows are often narrow — sometimes just two to four weeks.
