The Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) has once again extended the deadline for applicants wishing to apply for Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) positions under its 2021 recruitment drive. The decision comes as the board aims to fill more than 5,807 teaching posts across various subjects in Delhi's government and government-aided schools.
According to official notifications, the revised last date for online application submission has been pushed back, giving eligible candidates additional time to complete their forms. The extension was necessitated by the large number of candidates who continued to register even after the initial deadline, citing technical glitches and other practical difficulties during the application process.
The TGT recruitment notification had originally been released earlier in 2021, inviting applications from candidates holding a Bachelor's degree along with a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree or equivalent teaching qualification. The positions span a wide range of subjects including Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Physical Education, Music, Art, and Computer Science, among others.
Eligibility criteria mandate that candidates must possess a recognized Bachelor's degree with at least 50 percent marks in their subject specialization, along with a valid B.Ed. degree from a recognized institution. The upper age limit has been set at 32 years for general category candidates, with relaxations applicable for reserved categories as per government norms.
Candidates selected through the written examination will be appointed at Level 6 of the Pay Matrix, corresponding to a monthly salary ranging between ₹35,400 and ₹1,12,400, depending on their experience and qualifications. A contribution to the Employees' Provident Fund and other statutory deductions will also apply.
The selection process consists of a written examination carried out by the DSSSB itself, followed by document verification. The board has repeatedly urged candidates to apply well within the revised deadline and cautioned against waiting until the last day, as server congestion has historically led to failed submissions.
This recruitment drive represents one of the largest teaching appointment exercises undertaken by the Delhi government in recent years, and it is expected to significantly strengthen the teaching workforce in the national capital's school system.
