The Directorate of Women and Child Development (WCD), an important department under the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, has announced a recruitment notification for over 105 vacant posts spread across various programmes run by the department. The recruitment encompasses positions such as Programme Manager, Protection Officer, Social Worker, and a number of other supporting roles that are critical to the functioning of the department's outreach and welfare activities.
According to the official notification, the recruitment is being conducted to fill vacancies that have accumulated due to attrition and the expansion of ongoing schemes. The department manages several flagship programmes including the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act implementation cells, Anganwadi-related support structures, child protection units, and various women empowerment initiatives across all seven districts of Delhi.
The eligible candidates are required to possess relevant qualifications depending on the post applied for. For the Programme Manager position, candidates typically need a postgraduate degree with experience in project implementation and monitoring. Protection Officer roles generally require a law degree or a diploma in social work along with demonstrated experience in grievance redressal and legal aid facilitation. The Social Worker posts usually demand a Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) or an equivalent qualification.
Applications were invited through the official WCD Delhi website, with candidates required to submit their online applications within the stipulated timeframe. A processing fee was applicable for general category candidates while reserved category applicants enjoyed fee relaxation as per government norms. The selection process was expected to include a screening stage followed by interviews or group discussions, depending on the seniority and nature of the position.
The department emphasized that reservations for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Economically Weaker Sections, and physically challenged candidates would be applied as per central government guidelines. Candidates with prior experience in dealing with domestic violence cases, child protection services, or community-level welfare work were encouraged to apply.
This recruitment drive is seen as part of a broader effort by the Delhi government to strengthen its institutional framework for women and child welfare, especially in light of increasing demands on protection cells and counselling services across the capital.
