The Delhi Police announced one of its most ambitious recruitment drives in recent years, filling more than 5,500 vacancies across various ranks. The massive hiring exercise aims to strengthen the capital's law enforcement machinery with fresh personnel covering roles from subordinate staff to leadership positions.
According to officials, the recruitment encompasses positions such as Constable (General), Head Constable (Ministerial and Excise Inspector), and Sub-Inspector across multiple categories. The drive is expected to significantly boost the workforce strength of Delhi Police, which has long operated with staffing shortages despite handling one of India's most complex urban policing environments.
Candidates who cleared the previous physical efficiency tests and written examinations will be called for final document verification and medical examinations. Successful candidates will receive starting salaries ranging between ₹21,700 and ₹69,000 per month depending on the rank and level of the position, with additional allowances and benefits specific to central police organizations.
The recruitment process followed a multi-stage selection procedure that included a written examination conducted by the delhi police itself, a physical endurance and measurement test, and a document verification round. Thousands of aspirants had appeared for the preliminary exams earlier, with results declared in phases.
This large-scale recruitment comes at a time when Delhi faces increasing demands on its police force due to rapid population growth, heightened security requirements, and expanding urban challenges. Government sources indicate the hiring will be completed within the current fiscal year, with new recruits undergoing training at the Delhi Police Training College before being posted across various districts of the national capital.
