The Delhi Police has issued an official notification for the recruitment of 5,846 constables across various categories, sending out applications for an online selection process that will determine entry-level policing personnel for India's capital. The recruitment drive represents one of the largest such hiring efforts by the Delhi Police in recent years and comes as the force seeks to strengthen its manpower amid increasing security demands in the national capital.
Selected candidates will be placed in Level-3 of the 7th Central Pay Commission pay matrix, which translates to a starting basic pay of approximately Rs 21,700 and a maximum salary of Rs 69,100 per month, along with standard allowances including dearness allowance, transport allowance, and uniform allowance applicable to Delhi Police personnel. The total cost to face, as fixed by the government, is Rs 100 for general category candidates and Rs 100 for reserved categories, though the application portal may have additional processing fees.
The eligibility criteria require candidates to be between the ages of 21 and 25 years for general category applicants, with relaxations up to 28 years for SC, ST, and ex-servicemen candidates. Educational qualification mandates completion of graduation from a recognized university. Physical efficiency standards include height requirements of 170 cm for general male candidates, 165 cm for EWS/OBC candidates, and 160 cm for SC/ST candidates, with corresponding chest measurements and endurance running tests of 1.6 km to be completed within specified timeframes.
The selection process will consist of multiple stages including a written examination testing general awareness, reasoning, and numerical ability, followed by the physical endurance test, document verification, and a final merit list preparation. The Delhi Police recruitment board has urged genuine aspirants to apply before the deadline and warned against misinformation circulating on social media regarding fake coaching packages and fraudulent application portals.
