The Bihar State Subordinate Service Commission (BPSSC) has officially released the recruitment notification for 150 Sub-Inspector positions in the Bihar Police force for the year 2026. The announcement marks a significant hiring drive aimed at strengthening law enforcement capabilities across the state.
According to the notified details, candidates can begin submitting their applications online starting July 9, 2026, through the official BPSSC portal at bpssc.bihar.gov.in. The commission has emphasized that applicants must complete the registration process within the stipulated timeline, as no extensions will be entertained.
The Sub-Inspector role is considered one of the most sought-after positions in Bihar's police recruitment landscape. It serves as a key supervisory rank within the state police hierarchy and offers considerable career progression opportunities. Candidates who clear the selection process will undergo a rigorous training program at the Bihar State Police Academy before being posted to various districts across the state.
Eligibility criteria require candidates to hold a bachelor's degree from a recognized university. Additionally, applicants must meet the age limits prescribed by the commission — typically ranging from 21 to 28 years for general category candidates, with relaxations reserved for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and other qualifying categories as per Bihar government norms. Physical efficiency standards, including height and chest measurements for male candidates and vision standards, will also be enforced during the medical examination phase.
The selection process is expected to follow a multi-stage format comprising a written examination, physical endurance test, document verification, and a medical fitness assessment. The written exam will test candidates on subjects including general studies, current affairs, reasoning, mathematics, and English or Hindi language proficiency.
