The Government of Bihar has officially announced a major recruitment drive for Anganwadi Workers and Helpers, announcing 935 vacant positions spread across districts in the state. The notification was released under the umbrella of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme, which operates Anganwadi centres as the primary delivery mechanism for early childhood care, nutrition, and pre-school education in rural and semi-urban areas.
All applications are to be submitted exclusively through the online mode at patna.nic.in, the official recruitment portal for Bihar state-level posts. The department has urged candidates to read the detailed information brochure carefully before filling out the application form, as corrections cannot be made once the form is submitted.
Eligibility criteria require candidates to have passed at least the 10th standard (Matriculation or equivalent) from a recognised board. Age relaxation is available for candidates belonging to reserved categories — Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, and economically weaker sections — as per the prevailing Bihar government rules. A candidate must also be a domicile of Bihar to be eligible for these posts.
The selection process will be based entirely on merit, determined by the marks obtained in the qualifying examination, followed by document verification. Candidates who meet the cut-off will be allotted to specific Anganwadi centres based on their merit rank and district-wise vacancy distribution.
The application fee for General category candidates stands at Rs 250, while candidates from Reserved categories are exempted from payment. The window for online submissions remains open until the date specified in the official notification. Applicants must keep scanned copies of their photograph, signature, educational certificates, caste certificate (if applicable), and Aadhaar card ready before logging in to complete the form.
Anganwadi functionaries work under the Ministry of Women and Child Development and play a critical role in providing mid-day meals, immunisation support, and nutritional supplements to children under six years of age and pregnant or nursing mothers in their assigned centres. With over three lakh Anganwadi centres functioning across Bihar, the recruitment of 935 new workers represents a significant expansion of frontline delivery capacity in the state's maternal and child welfare infrastructure.
