Apple has officially unveiled the Apple Watch Series 12, a device that the technology giant describes as a transformative step forward for wearable computing. The new smartwatch combines a dramatically improved battery life with next-generation health monitoring sensors and an overhaul of Apple's Siri voice assistant to deliver contextually aware AI interactions directly from the wrist.
The Series 12 marks a significant departure from previous generations, which have long struggled with the industry-standard single-day battery life. According to Apple, the new model reliably delivers up to two full days of use on a single charge under normal conditions — a milestone that addresses one of the most persistent complaints from consumers over the past decade.
At the heart of the Series 12 is a substantially redesigned suite of health sensors. The optical sensor array on the back of the watch has been rebuilt from the ground up, enabling more accurate heart rate monitoring, continuous blood oxygen tracking, and new electrocardiogram (ECG) features that can detect irregular rhythms earlier than previous models. Apple also confirmed that the Series 12 will include advanced temperature sensing capabilities for enhanced women's health tracking.
Perhaps the most talked-about upgrade is the integration of what Apple terms 'contextual Siri.' Unlike earlier iterations that required specific wake phrases and could only execute isolated commands, the new Siri on the Series 12 operates with significantly faster response times and the ability to understand multi-step instructions. It can cross-reference data from other Apple devices, pull information from your calendar, messages, and health apps, and provide proactive suggestions without being explicitly prompted. The Apple Watch Series 12 is priced starting at Rs 41,900 for the base aluminum model in India, with premium variants costing upward of Rs 65,000. Pre-orders are expected to open next week, with availability beginning the following month. Apple did not announce any changes to its existing watch band compatibility, meaning accessories from previous generations remain functional.
