The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the release of the Hall Tickets for the Civil Services (Main) Examination 2026. The admit cards are now available for download on the official UPSC portal at upsc.gov.in. Candidates who cleared the Preliminary Examination earlier this year are eligible to appear for the Mains stage of the prestigious competitive exam.
The Civil Services Examination conducted by UPSC is one of the most sought-after recruitment processes in India. It selects candidates for various central government services including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS). The examination is held in three stages: Prelims, Mains, and the Personality Test or Interview.
The Mains examination consists of nine papers, two of which are language papers and seven are merit-based papers. The qualifying language papers include an Indian language and English, while the other papers assess candidates on subjects such as essay writing, general studies, and optional subjects chosen by the candidate. The total marks for the Mains examination amount to 1,750, which are counted for final merit ranking alongside the interview score of 275 marks.
Candidates are advised to carry a printed copy of the admit card along with a valid photo identity proof to the examination centre. Details such as the examination venue, date, shift timing, and reporting time are mentioned on the hall ticket. The UPSC has urged candidates to cross-check all information on their admit cards carefully before heading to the examination hall.
Admit cards were released in multiple batches to accommodate candidates across different centres. Candidates who have not yet received their hall tickets are encouraged to visit the official website regularly or contact the commission for resolution. The examination will test analytical ability, depth of understanding, and general awareness across a wide range of subjects, making it one of the toughest competitive exams in the country.
