The Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UBEB) has officially released the examination schedule for the much-awaited recruitment drive of Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT) and Post Graduate Teachers (PGT) across the state. The announcement came after weeks of anticipation from lakhs of aspirants who had been waiting for the final dates to be fixed.
The recruitment process aims to fill several thousand vacant teaching positions in government schools throughout Uttar Pradesh. The TGT posts require candidates to hold a bachelor's degree in their subject area along with a Bachelor of Education degree, while the PGT vacancies demand a postgraduate qualification in addition to teaching credentials. Both categories of teachers play a critical role in the state's massive school education system, which serves millions of students daily.
Candidates who registered online for the examination will now receive their admit cards in the coming days. The board has stated that the admit cards will be available on its official website, and applicants are urged to download them well in advance of the examination date. Each candidate must carry a printed copy of the admit card along with a valid photo identity proof at the examination centre.
The UP government initiated this large-scale teacher recruitment exercise to address the severe shortage of qualified educators in the state's elementary and secondary schools. Over the years, numerous teaching positions have remained vacant due to procedural delays, leaving students and existing staff to manage understaffed classrooms. Education officials believe that filling these posts will significantly improve the quality of instruction in government-run schools.
The examination itself will follow the standard multiple-choice question format used by the board. Questions will cover subject-specific knowledge and general awareness topics relevant to the teaching profession. Results are expected to be declared within a few months of the examination, after which the document verification and counselling process will begin for shortlisted candidates.
