Union Home Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai jointly inaugurated 38 development projects totaling Rs 121.70 crore in Sakti on Thursday, marking one of the largest single-day infrastructure pushes in the district's recent history.
Of the total projects, 15 were formally opened to the public at an estimated cost of Rs 42.46 crore, while foundation stones were laid for another 23 projects valued at approximately Rs 79.25 crore. The ceremonies were held at a function attended by senior state and central government officials, district administration representatives, and local community leaders.
The inaugurated projects include roads, public buildings, healthcare facilities, and water supply schemes that aim to improve basic infrastructure across Sakti taluk. The newly laid foundations will cover additional road networks, government school complexes, community health centres, and irrigation-linked structures expected to benefit rural and semi-urban pockets of the district.
Sakti, located in east-central Chhattisgarh, has historically received limited developmental attention compared to more urbanised districts such as Raipur and Bilaspur. Local residents and political observers noted that the current wave of project approvals signals a possible shift toward greater investment in the region's infrastructure backbone.
Chief Minister Sai, addressing the gathering, emphasised that the state government was committed to ensuring timely completion of all sanctioned works and warned against bureaucratic delays. Union Minister Chouhan highlighted the central government's focus on rural development under existing flagship programmes and credited cooperative federalism for enabling faster project clearances.
District collector officials confirmed that progress reviews would be conducted quarterly to monitor the execution of both completed and upcoming projects.
